There is still no safe, recommended method to unlock the Switch 2. Everything is a proof of concept, with a risk of brick and ban.

mac2jb reaches version 0.4.3: new bootstrap, built-in homebrew, experimental player and game export through OunceCake

On Oct 26, 2026, developer cpypwn published four releases of mac2jb in a row on GitHub, the program that uses a Mac to start ns2jb: 0.4.0 to 0.4.3. Version 0.4.0 brought a new bootstrap (the first stage the console receives), based on the ns2jb fork made by kurumuz; the old bootstrap is no longer compatible. It also integrates HBLauncher and the FTP server and includes an experimental video player, at 320x180 and 15 frames per second, with audio; according to the author, startup and playback work. Version 0.4.1 fixes the driver installation in some Mac security setups. Version 0.4.2 adds a tested save-and-load flow for the SmileBASIC demo version and updates the documentation. Version 0.4.3 starts exporting the content of your own games using OunceCake (romFS/exeFS files of the game, updates and DLC).

Context

Version 0.4.3 does not create game packages (NSP/XCI) and does not provide system keys. It is still tethered (needs a computer and is gone after a reboot), with no kernel access and no CFW. It only works on a Mac with an Apple Silicon chip and a USB-C port, and it requires lowering the Mac's security, which is a risk to the computer itself. All of this is still research and proof of concept on firmware 23.0.1, with a risk of brick and ban. See also the OunceCake news and the earlier mac2jb note.
