There is still no safe, recommended method to unlock the Switch 2. Everything is a proof of concept, with a risk of brick and ban.

OunceCake: public tool to extract the files of your own games using ns2jb

On Oct 25, 2026, developer Hexa (GitHub account misshexa66) published OunceCake, a tool that pulls a game's files out of the console (parts called romFS and exeFS, already in an open format), including updates, DLC, digital games, game cards and Switch 2 Editions. Within a few hours the project passed 150 stars on GitHub. So far we have not found any other public tool of this kind. It depends on ns2jb (a fork made by kurumuz) and a computer.

Context

The author says in the README that the tool ships no system keys and does not decrypt anything by itself: the console itself loads the files normally. She asks that nobody share the extracted files and that the tool be used only with the user's own games and console. It is still tethered (needs a computer and is gone after a reboot), with no kernel access and no CFW, and it is not a program for running copies of games. It fits with __alula's Oct 24 list of what can already be read from the system. This site does not publish step-by-step guides, commands or links to extracted files. As a precaution, do not update the console for now: ns2jb only works on firmware 23.0.1. Reminder: all of this is still research and proof of concept, with a risk of brick and ban.
