There is still no safe, recommended method to unlock the Switch 2. Everything is a proof of concept, with a risk of brick and ban.

ravensclawx releases a rewritten HBLauncher and publishes Twilight Princess and Animal Crossing ports

On Oct 29, 2026, developer ravensclawx published on GitHub a rewritten version of HBLauncher, the homebrew (unofficial apps) menu that runs on top of ns2jb. According to the README, it is now a native AArch64 launcher (the type of code the Switch 2 processor runs) with an SDK, the kit for making apps, and a versioned ABI, a fixed set of rules for how apps talk to the launcher. The code runs on the CPU and the interface is drawn with Vulkan, a graphics interface, inside the SmileBASIC 4 process, using an ns2jb session opened from a computer. The author says this opens the way to heavier homebrew, such as game ports and emulators. The same day, he published the source code of two ports (versions of a game adapted to another platform): Twilight Princess, based on the Dusklight project, and Animal Crossing, based on ACGC-PC-Port.

Context

Both ports require the user's own copy of the game's GameCube disc and must be built from source code. The repositories include no game files, keys or ready-made programs. The author himself calls the ports experimental and says they still need testing on the console in these versions. It is a release of a tool and homebrew ports, not a new jailbreak: it is still tethered, meaning it depends on a computer that stays on, runs in userland, like a normal app, with no kernel and no CFW (modified system), and is gone when SmileBASIC or the console restarts. ns2jb works on firmware 23.0.1. Developer byizmysh, author of IZ2S and IZDOOM, had questioned whether ravensclawx's earlier demos were native. Research and proof of concept, with a risk of brick and ban.
