There is still no safe, recommended method to unlock the Switch 2. Everything is a proof of concept, with a risk of brick and ban.

IZDOOM: byizmysh shows a DOOM port that runs on the Switch 2 GPU

On Oct 28, 2026, developer byizmysh published IZDOOM, version 0.17.1, on GitHub: a homebrew DOOM port for the Switch 2. The game logic runs in an interpreter (RV32) on the console's GPU, and shaders draw the world, sprites and interface. It does not have sound effects or music yet. According to the author, the port does not need access to the console's file system. It is a module of the IZ2S platform and includes the data of the first episode of the shareware (free) version of DOOM, not the commercial version's.

Context

It still depends on ns2jb through SmileBASIC 4 and on the IZ2S platform: it is tethered (needs a computer and is gone after a reboot), with no kernel and no CFW. It is different from byizmysh's earlier DOOM demo, which he himself called a warm-up. Research and proof of concept, with a risk of brick and ban. See the note on IZ2S Platform.
