There is still no safe, recommended method to unlock the Switch 2. Everything is a proof of concept, with a risk of brick and ban.

__alula releases norahax / seedsowhax, a launcher that stays installed on Switch 2 through the demos of two Artemis games, as a proof of concept

On Nov 2, 2026, __alula published version v1 of norahax / seedsowhax on GitHub. The README describes it as a demonstration of persistent code execution in userland: it stays installed on the console and runs at the app level, without access to the system's core. It works through the demos of two visual novels (story-reading games with images) made with the Artemis Engine: Nora, Princess and Crying Cat 2 Demo, from the Japanese eShop, and Seedsow Lullaby Demo. The full versions of these games are not supported yet, nor is the Nora Princess and Stray Cat HD demo. Broadly speaking, it runs a small server on the console that lets you run code and send or delete save files, and its main scripts can be updated, with a safe mode that goes back to the original scripts if something goes wrong.

Context

According to __alula, it is not an entry point like SmileBASIC 4: the idea is to be a one-click launcher for upcoming exploits, something the README says some would call "semi-tethered" (once installed, it opens right on the console, but still depends on another flaw to do more). According to the README, once the file system flaw used today on firmware 23.0.1 stops working, the only way to put the launcher on the console will be a flaw triggered by another game, such as SmileBASIC 4 or Civilization VII 1.0.0. According to the README, the demos are no longer available on the eShop. So far, no new firmware has been announced, and the latest is still 23.0.1. Limits: userland only, with no kernel, no CFW (modified system) and no backup loader. It is research and a proof of concept, with a risk of brick and ban.
