There is still no safe, recommended method to unlock the Switch 2. Everything is a proof of concept, with a risk of brick and ban.

kurumuz shows a work-in-progress Switch 2 homebrew enabler on video that opens hbmenu instead of a game

On Nov 2, 2026, kurumuz, a scene developer who maintains a fork (derived version) of ns2jb, posted on X a short video of a work-in-progress Switch 2 homebrew enabler: a tool to allow running homebrew, programs made by fans. Broadly speaking, it starts from the SmileBASIC 4 flaw used by ns2jb, breaks out of the SmileBASIC environment and takes over the system's program loader to open hbmenu (the menu that lists and opens homebrew apps) from the memory card instead of a game. The image on screen is drawn with an adaptation of the Mesa project's Vulkan driver, that is, the piece of software that talks to the graphics chip to draw images.

Context

For now there is only the video: there is no repository, release or date yet, and the post does not say which firmware was used. It is a proof of concept in development. This site does not publish step-by-step guides.
