There is still no safe, recommended method to unlock the Switch 2. Everything is a proof of concept, with a risk of brick and ban.

byizmysh shows a PS1 emulator he calls 100% native on Switch 2, as a proof of concept

On Oct 30, 2026, developer byizmysh, author of IZ2S and Super File Bros., posted on X a video of about 6 minutes of a PlayStation 1 emulator (a program that imitates the original console) running on the Switch 2. He calls it "100% native" and says it is the first native emulator on the Switch 2. According to him, the emulator uses the console's file system and the disc images are saved on the microSD card.

Context

So far, only the video has been shown: there is no code, repository or release. Being "the first" is the author's own claim. Like his other projects, it depends on ns2jb: it is tethered, meaning it depends on a computer that stays on, and runs in userland, like a normal app, with no kernel and no CFW (modified system). Research and proof of concept. See also the news on the rewritten HBLauncher and on ravensclawx's Nintendo DS teaser. This site does not publish step-by-step guides or download links.
